"Piero" chronicles the explosive life of a Latino superstar, Miguel Piero, a gay poet-playwright-actor whose urban poetry influenced rap and hip-hop. Piero's experiences in hard-core Sing-Sing inspired the Tony-nominated drama Short Eyes (1974). It was too much for the Latino bad-boy genius, who fled to the darkest parts of New York City.
