Goodness Gracious Me

Goodness Gracious Me is just a BBC english-language sketch comedy show originally aired from 1996 to 1998 and after televised on BBC 2 from 1998 to 2001. The ensemble cast were Nina Wadia, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Kulvinder Ghir, Meera Syal and four British Indian actors. The show explored the battle and integration between traditional civilization and modern living. Some sketches reversed the roles to view the British along with others poked fun in events that were Indian. From the television show the majority of the white characters were played by Dave Lamb and Fiona Allen. At the air show those parts were played by the cast. The show's name and subject song is really a bhangra Re arrangement of a winner comedy song of the exact same name. With Peter Sellers and Sophia Loren reprising their personalities by the 1960 film The 19, the original was performed. The series's original working name was"Peter Sellers is Dead", but was changed because the cast generally liked Peter Sellers. In her 1996 book Anita and Me,'' Syal had imputed to British parodies of Asian language as"a goodness-gracious-me accent". One of the most famous sketches featured the cast"going out for an English" after a few lassis. They order the thing on the menu, mispronounce the waiter's name and then ask for plates of chips. The sketch parodies often-drunk English people"going out for an Indian", ordering chicken phall and too many papadums. This sketch has been voted the 6th Greatest Comedy Sketch to a Channel 4 list show.
